We are a group of young university students in service of collecting, classifying and disseminating relevant and current information on diabetes in order to contribute to the prevention and treatment of the disease.

In this degree project we seek to create a reliable, effective and dynamic website with the purpose of providing a care, health and nutrition service.

WHAT IS DIABETES?

Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs when the pancreas can no longer produce insulin or when the body cannot make good use of the insulin it produces.

Insulin is a hormone made by the pancreas, which acts as a key to allow glucose from the food we eat to pass from the bloodstream to the body’s cells to produce energy.

Hello, I am Alejandro Vela, I am 22 years old and I am in the last semester of Administration & Service at the University of La Sabana.

At my young age, I have been able to approach the diabetics mellitus through friends and family that suffer this disease despite being as young as me. Realizing that age is not a relevant factor for this disease, I decided to investigate the causes of this condition and see if it was possible to avoid the disease without making drastic or tortuous changes to our daily routine. Realizing that it was possible and that although it is an easy-to-prevent disease is one of the leading causes of death in the world, I set about creating digital content that had reliable sources of information for care, prevention and treatment of the disease so that all those interested in improving their habits could easily access this information, relevant and constant and thus motivate them to make small changes to their routine that in the end are very significant for their current and, above all, future health.
